The Strength of Duality
Chapter 187 Luo Tai
Luo Tai didn’t have long to think over his actions though as people started to show up one by one with their weapons out and ready for battle. After arriving though, they were confused as they saw that everyone there was calm and there was also no beast. Seeing this, those who arrived put away their weapons and asked what happened along with why the windows were destroyed.
Luo Tai only told these newcomers, “Wait for everyone to arrive.”
Some wanted to complain or something similar, but when they realized Luo Tai was here and he was the one who asked them to wait, they respectfully complied and just waited for people to stop showing up.
Many people came running up the stairs and they all had strong momentums. They were either in the late stage or the Peak stage of Dantian Building. It didn’t take long for the count to reach over twenty newcomers to arrive with their great speed. Now, there were over thirty late and peak stage experts combined in this room alone and it wasn’t even all the town had to offer.
Even Yun Tian would be shocked to see them all even though he had expected there to be a large amount of experts in this town. The only thing he would be happy to see would be that every one of them was old either late middle aged or even older. No one was young. It showed that his talent and strength was still well above the norm even here.
Each of them had come in battle-ready and then each of them inquired as to what had happened with the howl and why the windows were broken.
Previously Luo Tai had asked them to wait, but as he saw no one else arriving, he thought, ‘This should be most of those coming,’ and got ready to speak.
The other people in the room would spread the news of what happened later even if he kept quiet now. So, Luo Tai saw no reason to hide anything and narrated the story of what happened to the experts who arrived, except his face now wore a calm expression that no one could read anything from. He didn’t need to be polite to these people and he wasn’t smiling anymore as he wasn’t completely sure about what he just did as it could end poorly for him.
Also, by telling them the whole story right away from his own mouth, he was showing that he wasn’t hiding anything from them while also quelling their fears about a rampant beast in the town.
As the newly arrived experts heard the story, one of the peak stage experts, a middle aged man in black robes with some red insignias, stood out and said accusingly, “So you sold our pills to some random kid!?”
Luo Tai calmly responded as if he was advising a child, “I only conformed to the rules of our Spirit Market. He had a golden card too. It would require a higher ranking card to have us wait to sell things to him. And, until you buy the pills from us, the pills belong to Spirit Market, not your Ren family, even if you reserve them with a high ranking membership card.”
The man’s face darkened even more every second Luo Tai spoke and in the end it seemed like he might explode in anger, but instead he merely released a huff and then snorted in response before leaving back down the stairs.
Even though Luo Tai had disrespected him, he didn’t dare to disrespect the organization known as Spirit Market even with his backing and left politely through the stairs. He also could not say anything back as Luo Tai was correct, he conformed to the rules of Spirit Market so there was no way to fault him.
The others watched the whole thing happen and many looked at Luo Tai with pitying gazes while also thinking things along the line of, ‘He finally went senile and is looking for death huh?’
The newcomers had not seen Yun Tian for themselves and thus none of them believed Luo Tai had made the right choice. As for the part about following the Spirit Market’s rules, while in theory it was true, he didn’t have to follow them and the Ren family knew that. While the Spirit Market was powerful sometimes you had to go along with the local lord to live well.
After the man from the Ren family left, the rest also said their goodbyes and left as well to spread the news of what just happened.
In the end, it was just Luo Tai and the others from Spirit Market still there. They were all silent as no one dared to disrespect Luo Tai who was currently looking out the window Yun Tian had left from and contemplating what he just did and what he should do next.
Luo Tai did not care about the people leaving or even the man from the Ren family, it was the people behind them he was worried about.
As he looked out the window a calculative expression appeared on his face as he thought, ‘I wouldn’t have gone along with them anyway, at least this way I have a possible back up plan.’
Yun Tian had no idea of what happened after he left nor did he care as he was busy stealthily making his way out of town the same way he entered, before heading back down the path the same way he came.
He didn’t rush with the Wolf’s Lightning skill after leaving town and instead went at a moderate pace with the Crane Flight skill.
After going a decent distance from the town, he left the path and went into the forest a small distance away from the path before stopping.
He ignored every beast around while they ran away as soon as they noticed him making it so he didn’t need to care about clearing away any beasts.
He cleared away a spot within the foliage for them to rest and then put Bolin down before sitting down to rest and recover himself.
