The Strength of Duality
Chapter 198 Nothing
Yun Tian was greatly surprised and confused by the results his senses gave him.
‘Nothing,’
Normally, Yun Tian could sense what was in his surroundings somewhat and even the strengths of people around him, but when he tried to do the same for the door he felt nothing.
‘Back in the Spirit Market, I could clearly feel that there was a barrier blocking my senses, and even when I was outside the carriage I could feel a faint barrier, but this door is completely different. I don’t feel any barriers of any kind. In fact, I don't feel anything from it. It's as if there's nothing in front of me at all, but I can clearly see the door right in front of me.’
He reached out and put his hand on the door. Feeling the solid and stone like door he thought, ‘I can even touch it. It's not an illusion.’
‘I guess it makes sense that this carriage's creator could make something like this with how magical the rest of the carriage is. It seems there are people and methods way above what I know of.’
Since he couldn’t figure anything out with his senses, the only thing he could do was to try and open it, but as he looked at the round golden handle, he hesitated.
‘What if it's a trap of some kind? Even if they don’t seem to want to harm me, this carriage is something her father found. Even they don’t know what’s behind this door. Who knows if what’s behind this door is dangerous or if the door contains some powerful protective mechanism?’
As he thought about the magical properties of this carriage though, he made up his mind, ‘Whatever, I’ll just give it a try. This carriage is so magical. If there are any treasures within, they are bound to be extremely valuable.’
At that he put his hand on the handle and turned. He was surprised to find that it turned without any problems.
Then, as the group of three and a tiger watched on, he tried to pull it open. He pulled lightly and found the thing wouldn’t budge at all.
‘Maybe some more force will do it.’
He exerted more force through his arm, gradually increasing the force until he was using around fifty percent of his physical strength, but the thing still wouldn’t budge.
He let go for a second and thought, ‘Let’s go all out.’
Then, he put both arms on the handle as demonic qi poured out of the core in his chest and concentrated in his arms. Qi also surged out of his dantian and surrounded both the handle and his arms to provide whatever help it could.
After this, he once again tried pulling on the handle.
He grunted and gave it all he had as his arms started to bulge. Demonic qi flooded out from his core and his arms were strengthened to their very limits. He gave it all he had for around ten seconds but the thing just wouldn’t budge.
He could only let go and sigh, ‘Ha, seems my strength is still weak compared to the true experts in this world. But what I really wonder is why were they able to get into the carriage and all the other rooms so easily with only this single door not being able to be opened.’
Then he realized, ‘Well there probably isn’t a trap behind this door at the very least. The rest of the carriage carried none after all. It should have been easy for the carriage's creator to trap the carriage’s outer door or stop it from opening like this. There would be no reason to only trap this door.’
Yao Fei watched as he seemingly gave up on opening the door and fell into thought. She was slightly disappointed at his failure, but then she realized, ‘Wait, even father failed to open it. If he could open it then he would be stronger than father and there’s no way that’s possible.’
With that, she realized how ridiculous her thoughts of him opening the door were and no longer felt any feelings of disappointment and instead relief as she said, “Like I said, even my father couldn’t open it. It would have been strange if you could open it.”
Yun Tian nodded and said, “Mind if I check out the other three rooms?”
Yao Fei nodded and said, “Go ahead.”
After her words though, one of the Elder’s reminded her, “Miss, isn’t the first room your Bedroom?”
At that, she reddened and said, “Actually, the middle two are fine, but you can’t go in the leftmost one. These three doors lead to similar rooms anyway so you aren’t missing out on anything by only looking at the middle two.”
Yun Tian laughed at her reddened face and said, “No problem, I wouldn’t want to see any of the young miss’s embarrassing things.”
Yao Fei wanted to retort him but only grumbled in her mind, ‘What embarrassing things are you talking about, it's just not proper for a man to intrude into a woman's bedroom.’
Yun Tian calmed himself as he casually walked over to the closest door to his left. At least it seemed like he was being casual.
In reality, he had his guard raised to its absolute limit ready to react to any sudden situation.
This door looked exactly the same as the other one, just a normal white door with a golden circular handle. He grabbed and twisted it as his heart rate sped up.
Then, very cautiously, he pulled on the handle while readying himself to dodge or block whatever may come out of it.
He was slightly surprised that it was so easy to open, but he didn’t let that distract him as he peered into the room.
It was only after seeing that there was nothing inside that he breathed a sigh of relief.
‘Wait, nothing?’
He walked into the door and looked around to confirm what he saw and it turned out he was indeed right. There was nothing at all inside. It was just another room with white walls, but there was nothing inside it, not even a single table or chair.
However, it was still around the same size as the first room in the carriage, once again showing the great ability of the carriage's creator.
