The Strength of Duality
Chapter 209 One Not Enough? Use More
The demonic qi in the boar’s body surged and tried to push the strange “flower” out of its body. As it did so though, the boar suddenly screamed and nearly tumbled over. Yun Tian was surprised and raised an eyebrow as he looked at Yao Fei who was wearing a victorious smile.
He felt the boar’s demonic qi surge to push the whip out of its body but wasn’t sure why it screamed.
The boar quickly regained its composure and stopped its charge through the forest before turning around.
Yun Tian was following along the whole time and as he saw the smug smile keeping its place on Yao Fei’s face, he thought, ‘don’t get cocky so quickly.’
The boar’s demonic qi surged throughout its body and it pushed its strength to the maximum. Normally, it wouldn’t want to use all its energy even to hunt prey that could provide a good boost to its cultivation. This was because even if it got the prey in the end it would probably die before it could make use of it.
The forest was a dog eat dog world with many other dangerous beasts looking for opportunities. If it ran out of strength and another demonic beast arrived it would surely die, but this human made it finally feel the threat of death. It could no longer worry about anything else and could only use its all to kill the human in front of it.
The flower was continuously sucking the blood out of its body and it could not get rid of it easily or quickly. It needed to take care of the human and worry about the rest later as the human seemed to have no thoughts of leaving it alone.
The boar charged at Yao Fei at a fast pace, but the red mist quickly spread out again and she danced as she moved to the side.
This time though, the boar was ready and its body braced as it quickly changed direction.
Surprise flitted through Yao Fei’s eyes as she tapped the air once and just barely went over the boar.
‘The boar realized she was doing something to its senses and is using all it has to quickly change direction even if it hurts its muscles. As for it accurately following her, it was either a guess or it is getting used to the technique. I’m guessing it's the latter. A Demonic Beast’s senses aren’t so easy to fool.’
Yoa Fei wasn’t able to swing her whip and the boar immediately turned around and went after her again.
It was quicker than it ever had been before as it no longer held anything back with all its demonic qi coursing throughout its body. Yao Fei dodged once again, but the boar was prepared this time, it immediately followed her and stopped even quicker this time after she once again jumped into the air.
It followed after her and Yun Tian got ready to intervene as he saw that the boar would hit her when she got to the ground.
However he stopped and even went in front of the tiger who was about to jump to her rescue. Hu still wanted to go around him, but Yun Tian stopped it saying: “She’s fine. Just watch.”
At the same time, Yao Fei was holding another object taken out of her spatial bag. It was seemingly a shield made of thorny vines that looked remarkably similar to the whip.
Yun Tian’s expression was serious as he felt what his senses told him, ‘That thing is odd. Even more so than the whip. I’m pretty sure, it's… alive?’
At the back of Yao Fei’s whip was a thorn larger than the rest.
Still midair, she stabbed that thorn into the shield and grabbed the other end of the whip.
She threw out the shield at the oncoming boar and Yun Tian was amazed to see what happened. The vine shield became filled with red as most of the redness from the whip vanished. The shield even seemingly came alive as it enlarged and the vines squirmed.
Instantly, the boar felt great danger and even tried to stop but it was too late as the vines spread all over it completely entangling it. They even connected with the flower made from the whip and drained most of the redness from it as well before rapidly constricting and completely restricting the boar.
It fell and tumbled but immediately gave its all to break free from the vines. It felt that being within these vines meant certain death.
However, its struggles did little to help besides lacerating itself even more. The vines quickly drained its blood through the thorns and the flower also seemed to speed up its speed of draining except most of it seemingly just passed through it and into the vines.
Seeing as it could not break out of the vines, it decided to get rid of the thing that was draining its blood the fastest. It mobilized all its demonic qi and did all it could to push the flower out of its body. It was actually successful and the flower along with a long line of “roots” came out of its body as it screamed in extreme agony.
Afterwards, its efforts at escaping the vines became increasingly weaker and it eventually stopped moving completely after two minutes.
Having watched the whole event, Yun Tian was stunned. He looked at Yao Fei’s pained expression and thought, ‘Those vines probably can’t be used without a price. Nevertheless they are probably powerful enough to take down even Mid Stage Demonic Beasts with enough preparation and effort. The only difficult part would be getting them on the beast. Their constricting ability and strength seems great but I am pretty sure they can’t really move around on their own much.’
Despite those thoughts, Yun Tian really didn’t think highly of Yao Fei’s abilities. Everything she had used to kill the boar was seemingly something external except for her movement skill.
