Chapter 210 Strong Or Weak

Yun Tian didn’t think highly of Yao Fei’s abilities and was even a little disappointed, however Shen Yu’s thoughts were quite different.

‘I know she is still much weaker than Tian but she is way above me. My strength is only a little above average for my cultivation thanks to Tian teaching me and helping me improve my skills. If not for that, with my talent, I would have nothing that sets me apart from others at the same cultivation.’

Her thoughts continued, ‘She has the backing of her sect and incredible talent. Tian, is Tian. Even the wolves have great talent and will grow quickly thanks to Tian. They can help him in many ways even now. I need something or some way to speed up my growth so that I can help Tian too.’

Her face was quite solemn and although this was not the first time she had thoughts like this, it was the the first time she realized how deeply the chasm between her and Yun Tian would grow if she didn’t find some way to shorten it.

Yun Tian was unaware of her thoughts as he jumped down from the tree. In one of his hands was another reason why he didn’t think so highly of her fight.

He was holding an Early Stage leopard’s corpse in his grasp.

Yao Fei’s expression was bright at first and she turned to Yun Tian looking for praise, but as she saw his dark expression and the corpse that had obviously been killed only very recently, her expression also darkened.

It was even more so after she heard his next words, “Your fight was too long, too close too many times, you clearly had no plan, and most of all you caused way too much commotion. I had to kill this beast or it would have interfered in your fight. I’m also pretty sure this is pretty much all you have to show, meaning you could not handle both beasts at once.”

Yao Fei didn’t just want to admit he was right as she herself thought she did quite well besides when she let the boar go the first time.

“Yeah but that doesn’t really matter though as I had you watching over me right?”

Once again even Shen Yu gave her a weird look thinking, ‘At least my mentality is much better than hers.’

Even the tiger who landed behind Yun Tian avoided eye contact with her.

Yao Fei saw their reactions and was confused, ‘Is what I said wrong? It's true that he was protecting me and he did just that. Isn’t that natural. It’s too dangerous for me to come out here alone.’

Yun Tian was actually a little frustrated with her words. He and Shen Yu had been taught to treat every battle or hunt as if your life depended on it. Even when his father was watching over them, neither of them thought, ‘well if I make a mistake father will save me,’ they both always fought and did everything as if there was no safety net. It's not like they were never saved by their parents but they didn’t like nor want it to happen.

“Let me ask you this, why are you hunting right now? Is it so that you can continuously grow stronger under the guidance and care of others your entire life, only able to do something with others' help or is it so that you can be strong enough so that you need no protectors? So that you can do whatever you want and protect others instead?”

He continued, “Hu protects you right? Those Elders protect you right? I’m guessing your father has given you many things and protected you many times as well? Wouldn’t you like to be able to protect and care for them instead? Or would you like to be cared for for the rest of your life, never able to do anything on your own and never able to help those who help you?”

These words came from Yun Tian’s very heart. They resonated with everyone there. Although Shen Yu knew Yun Tian said this for her, she couldn’t help but feel like they captured her very dreams and aspirations.

Yao Fei was stunned silent for a moment. His words actually pierced quite deep into her mind. She didn’t know what to say.

However she didn’t think too deeply, only ‘Dad and everyone else always protects me. I would love to be strong enough to protect them!’

After a moment, she resolutely said, “I want to be strong enough so that I don’t need any protectors.”

Hearing that Yun Tian instantly wore a devilish smile and said, “Oh! Then I’m sure you're willing to go hunt another Demonic Beast without me protecting you.”

Yao Fei was stunned for a moment and she couldn’t help but waver as she looked at the leopard corpse still within Yun Tian’s grasp.

It was even more so after Yun Tian said, “I will also stop your little tiger from doing anything as well obviously.”

The tiger tried to release a roar, but Yun Tian merely turned around and gave it a deathly stare and it no longer had the courage to do so anymore. It felt that Yun Tian might even injure or kill it on the spot to show he meant it.

Seeing this, Yao Fei almost had a breakdown.

‘I want to be strong enough. Dad taught me to be courageous and fight!’

‘But the forest is dangerous! There are many demonic beasts out there, who knows what or how many of them I might run into.’

‘I could die.’

‘The vines might give me enough strength to survive even if I run into two Early Stage Demonic Beasts or even a Mid Stage one.’

‘But if there’s no one protecting me…’

These were only some of the thoughts that ran through her mind.

She couldn’t quickly come to a decision. She had never gone through anything like this before, a decision that may very well lead to her death.
